Diversity Statement

Diversity Statement: The Intercollegiate College of Nursing promotes an environment that embraces the participation of diverse persons. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to explore, understand, and appreciate one another's similarities and differences including those related to:

        *    Cultural, racial, and ethnic heritage
        *    Gender and sexual orientation
        *    Physical and mental disability
        *    Socioeconomic status.

A climate of unity within diversity is fostered through formal
and informal initiatives related to the overall mission of the
College of Nursing. We are committed to actions that support
the spirit of this resolution.

Approved by the ICN faculty in 1999

The Intercollegiate College of Nursing Diversity Statement demonstrates that our students, faculty and staff embrace a broad definition of diversity. It is our mission to improve the quality of health care in the United States, and around the world, by recognizing and promoting the value of diverse beliefs, opinions, experiences, and perceptions through-out the health care professions.

The Intercollegiate College of Nursing Diversity Committee is committed to decreasing growing health care disparities by increasing every aspect of diversity in nursing. The ICN Diversity Committee and everyone here at the ICN is dedicated to making students and faculty feel welcome.  Many nurses subscribe to the idea of improving the quality of health by increasing diversity of nursing.
