Spokane Ronald McDonald Care Mobile to Benefit from World Children’s Day Food Sales at Local McDonald’s Restaurants
(Spokane, Wash): November 20-23 would be a great time to eat at area McDonald’s Restaurants to benefit children needing health care services and other essential children’s programs. As part of World Children’s Day activities, Spokane area McDonald’s Restaurants are donating 10 cents from every premium salad sold and 10 cents from every order of french fries sold to the Spokane Ronald McDonald Care Mobile and the Spokane Ronald McDonald House Charities. Proceeds from the sale of these items will be split between these two local operations.
World Children’s Day began last year to call attention to philanthropic efforts benefiting children. Funds raised from World Children’s Day efforts around the globe will benefit Ronald McDonald House charities chapters and other children’s causes in communities worldwide (http://www.mcdonalds.com/corporate/whatsnew/childrensday/).
The Spokane Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, which began operating in 2002, is sponsored by The Washington State University Intercollegiate College of Nursing and Inland Northwest Health Services, with support from the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Spokane, Spokane McDonald’s Restaurants and several local funding partners.
The Care Mobile is staffed by nurse practitioners from
the Intercollegiate College of Nursing/WSU College of
Nursing. It is a unique clinic on wheels that reaches out
to children where they live and go to school. Health care
services include primary care, including diagnosis,
treatment, referral and follow-up for serious medical
conditions.
“We’re hoping Spokane area residents will
remember to eat at local McDonald’s Restaurants
Thursday through Sunday of this week, order a salad
and/or fries and know that a portion of their purchase is
going to help children in our community with health care
and other essential services,” said Debbie
Haberman, Director of External Relations and Advancement
at the College of Nursing.
The Care Mobile provides health care services at Rogers High School, Stevens Elementary School, Glover Middle School and Bethel AME Church one day each week during the 2003-04 school year.
