RNI Preceptors
Nurses use preceptors as coaches for new employees. The Rural Nurse Internship supports expert rural nurses precept local new nurses. Preceptors complete an 8 hour online training program and a test for which they receive free continuing education credit. A small honorarium is also provided.
The preceptor then uses a skills competency check list to assess intern confidence. A learning plan is developed for the 104 hour three month period. Interns are evaluated throughout the learning experience.
